Community Insights Group and the University of Strathclyde are pleased to launch a fourth offering of the Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Projects (IPR&P) e-learning program.

The Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Projects (IPR&P) e-learning programme consists of 10 self-paced sessions and three mandatory 1-hour tutorials. This course takes participants on a journey of understanding and developing respect for Indigenous Peoples’ rights, while enabling access to methods, tools and mechanisms to be used in the workplace.

Topics covered include: 

  • Who are Indigenous Peoples? 
  • International legal frameworks, standards and Indigenous rights; Indigenous rights in national contexts; 
  • Consultation & Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC); 
  • Impact-Benefit Agreements; 
  • Benefit-sharing; 
  • ESIAs for projects on Indigenous lands and waters; 
  • Indigenous cultural heritage impacts; 
  • Health impacts; and 
  • Indigenous defenders.

All sessions include interviews with and contributions from practitioners with deep expertise in the field to explain key concepts and share their experiences.

We have drawn on the success of our (Social Impact Assessment e-learning program and designed this short, focused course in response to increasing participant requests to develop their skills in recognising and responding to the rights of Indigenous Peoples affected by projects.
